I'm looking at OnAir, which is a commercial career manager for #MSFS2024 and #XP12, more in depth (and rather more reliable!) than Career Mode. I've a 7-day free trial, and my first flight is sightseeing from Chester to Lancaster and back (via Blackpool and Liverpool) in a Sky Courier 408.

Some years ago I purchased the Dassault Falcon 50ex for XPlane11 (Carenado). Unfortunately they chose not to update it for #XP12; I have just realised that community fixes have now solved several major bugs, so took it for a short spin from Luton to Caen. It looks great! #FlightSim #Aviation #AVGeek

Whilst the A346 is still in vogue for the new model on #MSFS2024, I fly the ToLiss #XP12 version, Heathrow- Johannesburg. I have resubscribed for a month to SayIntentions.AI to see how it has developed. At first glance, it has made great progress since I last tried it. #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

...for Rugby fans off to watch France v England tomorrow. It's decent now, but not as smooth or full-featured as the ToLiss A319; some odd system procedures, such as aligning IRS, are different (& more complicated) to ToLiss & Fenix. #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek #XP12 [2/2]

When I first got Xplane several years ago, my first addon was the FlightFactor A320- I didn't find it great, an expensive newbie mistake, & got the ToLiss A319 instead. Now, I've upgraded the FF A320 to the latest #XP12 version, trying it on this Easyjet flight from Birmingham to Paris Orly...[1/2]

#XP12 for a Cathay Pacific A321 flight (model by ToLiss) from Hong Kong, heading north over Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang to to Hangzhou, south-west of Shanghai. #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek Default XPlane scenery, which works just fine if you don't know the airports (& often if you do too!).

Into #XP12 for a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Stockholm Arlanda in the ToLiss A321. I do like Xplane at night at larger airports, and once again the ToLiss flight model behaves impeccably. #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

With the preview embargo of the #MSFS2024 Aerosoft-ToLiss A340-600 lifted, there were several streams showcasing it today. As I have the #XP12 version, I flew along the route of FlightDeck2Sim www.youtube.com/live/cJTDN-d... from Teruel in Spain to Frankfurt. The XP 346 will do me just fine!

I also tried the landing in #XP12, in an A333 rather than #MSFS2024 A332, as it was full of pauses, and XP was buttery, not stuttery! But MSFS did provide passengers with a great view of the pyramids (see other post) on approach. #flightsim #aviation #avgeek

An Air Canada Day. Vancouver to Castlegar in the Dash8-Q400. Castlegar has a fun challege of an RNAV approach down a river valley, with a circle-to-land, a sort of Canadian Innsbruck, with wintry conditions too. #XP12 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

The freeware Dash8-100 in #XP12 handflies much better than the VirtualCol, though the latter seems better on Autopilot and has a more realistic FMS. It's lower resolution, especially the interior, but had an excellent detailed XChecklist to follow, and XP Sandane runway seems more hogs-backed!

Direct comparison between #MSFS2024 and #XP12 with a flight between Ålesund Airport, Vigra, Norway and Sandane airport. Widerøe Dash8-100 with models by VirtualCol and a freeware offering by Christian Riviere/Manky1. First up the MSFS- this aircraft still can't fly an approach! #Flightsim #Aviation

LuxAir in #XP12 and #MSFS2024 today, a useful comparison. First up, a real world sector from Manchester to Luxembourg in the Dash 8 Q400 using XPlane 12; plane is of course excellent and the scenery, though not photorealistic is pretty accurate to airport layouts. #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

Retro transatlantic ops with the Virgin Atlantic A340-600 from Toliss, flying London Heathrow to Miami. I once flew the Virgin A340 (to Dubai) and managed (my one and only time) to get upgraded to Upper Class, which was quite an experience! #XP12 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

Concluding the Alpaca Express virtual trip in the FlyJSim Dash8-Q400 to Providence RI and Lake Placid NY with a return leg to La Guardia in somewhat better weather conditions than the outbound- still a challenge to see the runway for takeoff though! #XP12 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

Onwards in yesterday's north-eastern USA blizzard from Providence RI to Lake Placid in upstate New York. This was a real challenge for the Dash8 and I have to admit that some #XP12 magic was needed to get down safely- no way this flight would have been possible IRL! #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

Upon learning of a big winter storm across NE USA yesterday, with airports closed, where better to fly in #flightsim than La Guardia to Providence RI?! The Dash8 is in livery of virtual airline Alpaca Airways. It was definitely a challenge! #XP12 #Aviation #AVGeek

I thought I'd compare how XPlane rendered some of the smaller Alpine locations vs MS2024. This is a flight in a default #XP12 King Air C90B from Samedan to Lugano. What I do like is the depiction of ground snow by plugin github.com/hotbso/xa-sn... #XP12 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

This SkyAlps Dash8-Q400 flight from Kassel in Germany to Bolzano was in foul weather throughout, can't imagine it was a comfortable flight for those on board. But I love how #XPlane has handled & displayed the weather (apart from the "Star Wars" rain/snow effect!). #XP12 #FlightSim #Aviation #AVGeek

Shuttle flight from Bolzano to Bergamo in the SkyAlps Dash8-Q400. I did spot this flight last week on FR24 but it seems to have been a one-off. Pretty short, only about 30 mins air time. . #XP12 #FlightSim #Aviation #AVGeek

I had forgotten I had a scenery pack for Venice in #XPlane, so to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, #MardiGras, & the end of "Carnevale di Venezia" (Carnevale means "Goodbye meat", a final carnivore celebration before Lenten austerity). C172 from Marco Polo to Lido. #XP12 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

A real-world ITA flight from Rome Fiumincino to Venice. It's #MardiGras, and the Venice #Carnival reaches its climax with the 2026 theme “Olympus, the origins of play”, in homage to the Olympic spirit #WinterOlympics. We're in #XP12 with the Toliss A319 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

Having seen some slightly improved reviews of the VirtualCol Dash8-100, I decided to give it a go from Salzburg to Bolzano. I was pleasantly surprised- good taxi, OK to handfly, fine on AP- until short finals, when it lost speed too quickly- very nearly stalled!. #XP12 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

Once again the Fenix A320 failed to load properly, even after a couple of attempts, so I transferred to #XP12 and the Toliss A319, though the SAS livery was not the best. Route: Oslo to Milan Malpensa- the city has quite a choice of airports! #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek #WinterOlympics

Flight from Bonn Hangelar to Milan Linate for a VIP German delegation to the #WinterOlympics opening ceremony in Milan, in the Aerobask Embraer Phenom in #XP12. I think I just about have the hang of the little quirks and differences from MSFS2024 in the Garmin G1000. #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

As the 2026 #WinterOlympics opening ceremony takes place today, transport between the two centres of Cortina & Milan will be busy. This fictitious SkyAlps Dash8 flight from Bolzano (still over 2.5hr drive from Cortina) to Milan Linate is one possible route. #XP12 #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek

Getting to know the Embraer Phenom from Aerobask in #XP12 with a flight from Luton to Liverpool. Something slightly odd with the Garmin G1000 which I think I traced to the Smbrief export format into XP12. But a very good-looking aircraft and model, I reckon #Flightsim #Aviation #AVGeek
