Yunn offers a tentative smile. "I know it will take time for you to trust me, but... I would like to be your friend, if you'll let me." Azul frowns. "I came here to take your territory and seek revenge. I don’t need your *friendship.* I dont need *anyone's* friendship." Yunn's brows lift with concern. "I'm sorry you think that, Assam. But if you don’t want my friendship, then perhaps..." She offers a cup of tea. "Maybe we can simply be two dragons, enjoying a London fog together?"

Azul lifts the small cup and takes a sip. Her eyes widen with surprise. Yunn asks, "Well? How is it? Do you loke it?" Assam smiles. "It's... good." Time passes...

Yunn is leaving Boss' cave. Speech bubbles above indicate a conversation had before Yunn left. Yunn: "I'd like to come back tomorrow with more tea for you to try. Does that sound okay?" Assam: "That... sounds okay."

Yunn looks unsurpassed, then looks aways, saying: "Uh. I already know that." Azul yells, "WHAT!?" She gestures at Yunn, "You mean to tell me you're okay with a *dragon slayer* just walking around!?" Yunn says, "Azul is a kind person. They may have come here to hurt me, but I believe they've changed. I don't think they'll hurt anyone here." "Changed? *Changed!?* Those brutes know nothing of compassion! They only know how to cause harm!" "Assam... I promise no harm will come to you here. You're safe."

Azul glares. "Oh, yes, *safe!* I feel really safe here, you overcooked *noodle!* The chain around my leg makes me feel real *cozy!* And the massive, aggressive kirin in the corner really makes me feel at *home!*" Azul stands. "A dragon slayer is the least of my worries!" Yunn looks away, frowning. "Assam... you came here to hurt me, just like Azul. Except, you actually *did* hurt me." "Burning your mane hardly counts." "*Listen* to me, Assam."

Yunn looks quite upset. "You brought fire into my fields. You hurt my plants and you scared my friends. Many don't understand why I would give you a second chance after what you did. You've hurt me so deeply by burning the plants I care for. Many of them will not survive. Tea plants in fields like mine are curated to have a certain shape. They are trimmed into bushes, but they will grow into trees if left alone. Trees have deep root systems. They penetrate lower soil layers for nutrition, and for stability as they grow tall for more sun."

We see the root systems. "Camellia sinensis shaped into bushes, and kept from growing tall like their wild counterparts, in comparison, have shallower roots. Tea can be hardy, that's for certain, but.. if damaged enough, they do not have the same ability to bounce back as trees do. It takes at least five years for tea plants to be old enough to harvest from, and the plants cannot be so easily replaced. But... despite that... I want to offer you a chanxe to be a friend to the plants and people here."

Flare is a humanoid with animal ears. They enter the tea house and says, "Good morning, Yunn!" They present a kimono. "I brought you a gift!" Yunn presses her tail to herself in delighted surprise. "For...me?" Flare says, "I designed this kimono myself!" Yunn smiles and says, "It looks gorgeous! Thank you!" Suddenly, fire appears in Flare's arm. Flare looks surprised and Yunn looks worried. Flare flicks their hand to get rid of the flames and says, "Oh. There it goes again." Yunn, worried, says, "Does... that happen often? Please be careful in the tea farm..."

Did a little comic commission for a discord member of their character giving Yunn a kimono! Something like this is $65, greyscale, minimal shading, with simple backgrounds included.

Assam flips her head away dramatically and says, "Well, I knew that, of course!" Yunn chuckles. "Oh, did you really? I suppose it makes sense you would know a bit about tea. You must like it, then? To go through such lengths to come here?" Assam puts her claw to her chest. "Of course I loke tea! Back home, we practically have a tea culture! It's just about a way of life on the isles. We even have a tea time, with biscuits and jam and everything!"

Chibi Assam continues, "Ages past, people from my home would trade all manner of money and goods to get a few pounds of tea. That is, of course, until they discovered the tea was being dyed with various chemicals, so they sought to grow tea themselves. I had no interest in growing tea myself, but I did want some of the delicious brew. I couldn't compete against the sea serpents in the water trade routes, so I stayed on land. Eventually, a subject if mine gave me a map and a cake of pu'erh, and told me where to go." Yunn, without a smile, says, "And that's where you found me." Assam doesn't reply. "Hmm..." Yunn humms. "Assam, what is your favorite tea?" "I enjoy English breakfast," Assam replies.

Yunn's brow lifts with surprise. "Really? That's one of Azul the Knight's favorite teas!" Assam looks displeased. "Yunn... why is it you keep such terrible company? I attacked you, and that knight... they're from a dragon slaying guild." The dark image of a black-armor knight with a red visor looms behind Assam.

Yunn sits down across from Assam. Boss sits near the entryway, watching them both. "What do you want?" Assam asks. "To talk," Yunn replies. "Oh, goodie. The victor come to gloat." "No, Assam, I'm not here to..." Yunn sighs. "I brought some tea with me. Maybe we can talk over a nice brew. Does that sound okay to you?" We see the pouch on Yunn's tail. Assam opens her mouth to lash out, then exhales, calming herself.

"What teas do you have?" Assam asks. Yunn beams. She opens her bag and lays out an array of items: a thermos, a teapot & teacup, honey, tea, and milk. "I wasn't sure what you liked, so I brought a few options with me. Do you like honey or milk with your tea? I brought a little of both, just in case. Mitzubi raises her own bees, and she gave me a jar of her honey. It's really good!" Assam, annoyed, says, "How is this not gloating? You're showing off how much your territory serves you! The spoils of victory!" Yunn stays silent for a moment.

Yunn offers a soft smile. "How about a London fog?" Assam looks away and, after a moment, says, "A London fog sounds nice." Yunn begins to prepare the tea. "You know, there are many who claim to have invented London fog. One story claims that a pregnant woman, Mary Loria, invented it when she asked for steamed milk and vanilla in her earl Grey tea."

"Other cafes claim they made it themselves. Regardless, London fog has become known by several names, such as Vancouver fog and earl Grey latte. Lavender seems to be a later addition, though it is my favorite way to have this brew. I'm afraid we'll have to have a slight variation today, since i dont have steamed milk with me. I usually like to brew the tea with a bit of water alongside the milk, as it helps the tea brew better. Then I'll add the honey and vanilla after."

Boss looks at her reflection in the water. She says, "She wants to hurt you, you know. She already hurt your plants." Yunn joins Boss at the water's edge. "I know. And they are still healing. I'm still healing. She has a lot to apologize for."

Yunn presses her hand to her heart. "But I have to try, Boss. I have to speak to her, reason with her! She's gone through so much, and if I could kiss talk to her...!" Boss snorts. Yunn frowns, looking away, momentarily dejected. Then she looks to Boss with a smug expression. "It worked on you," she teases. Boss chuckles. "I blame the tea you served me." She gestures with her snout. "Fine, you've won. She's this way, follow me." Chibi Yunn delightedly claps her hands and says, "Oh, thank you!'

Yunn and Boss leave the main chamber. Boss says, "I won't be leaving you two alone, though. I hope you know that." "That's okay, Boss. I wouldn't expect anything else," Yunn replies. They enter a new chamber where Assam is preening her wings. When she spots Yunn, she scowls, and kisses, "Yunn."

Somewhere in the mountains, on a blisteringly cold morning... We see a cave with water spilling from its mouth. Yunn flies into frame and lands in the water. She wears bags on her tail. She calls out, "Boss?" She comes closer to the viewer and sticks out of frame. "Boss?" She calls again.

We see the interior of the cave, where it opens up and a large hole let's water in from the roof. It spills into a pool which then spills out of the cave. Yunn calls out, "Jun?" A large, horned kirin with curled whiskers walks in from a nearby cave offshoot. Chains around her horns jingle. "Jun?" She smiles. "You haven't called me my true name in a long whole."

Yunn says, "I'm here about Assam." Boss, or Jun, frowns and says, "I see. Are yku prepared to--" "No," Yunn says firmly. "I don’t want to hurt her." Boss sighs. "Oh, Yunn..."

Yunn says, "I'm... upset. But I'm glad to be here." Himari says, "We're glad youre here, too, Yunn. We got you green tea and yakisoba." Yunn says, "I'm sorry for taking so long to arrive. I just needed some time with the tea plants." Satoshi says, "It's okay, Yunn. You're probably starving, so eat up!" Yunn grabs her chopsticks. "So... that was the boss?" Himari asks. Satoshi says, "Wait, have you never met her before? Boss was defeated by Yunn when I was still a toddler." "Seriously? But she's huge! How did Yunn beat her?" Himari asks. "Well, she challenged Yunn to a fight..."

"She must've thought Yunn was weak, but Yunn defeated her in a landslide victory!" Satoshi finishes. "To think Yunn could beat even Boss!" Himari exclaims. "Impressive," Azul says. "Boss swore to help protect the tea farm with Yunn ever since," Satoshi says. Himari laughs. "So Yunn's really the boss, huh? Well, I'm glad Boss helped take care of that blue dragon. I hope she teaches that stranger a lesson!" "Boss won't do anything to Assam," Yunn intersects. "Besides maybe scaring her, Boss knows not to hurt guests." Himari and Satoshi exclaim together, "WHAT!?" Azul looks unamused. "She did harm my plant friends, and that is somwthing she will need to apologize for," Yunn says, smiling. "But... she deserves a chance to make things right. She's hurting. So... I'd like to speak with her over a cup of tea."

Knight reaches out towards Yunn, who says, "Plants talk, you know. I cant speak the language, but I can understand it. They're hurting. They're confused. And..." Yunn, distressed, appears to be crying in the rain. "They're afraid."

Knight places their hand on Yunn, and says, "Yunn... it's okay. It's okay to be afraid." Yunn and Azul embrace. Some time passes during the same night.

The rain has stopped as Yunn flies to the local town. She lands and walks to a noodle shop. Inside, we see Himari, Azul, and Satoshi talking. Himari says, "You rode the train here?" Azul says, "Yes." Satoshi says, "And no one thought it was weird?" Azul replies, "Everyone thought it was weird." Yunn pokes her head around the door. "She's here!" "Yunn!" Himari says, "We were worried you wouldn't come." Satoshi says, "How're you holding up?"

Assam gets up, scowling. "I don't know who you are... But I'm not going anywhere with you." Chains wrap around Assam's muzzle and she is yanked down and pulled away. The mystery character says, "This is not a negotiation. Come peacefully. Yunn would not want you hurt."

Yunn frowns down at the scene below. Above her, the dark clouds start spilling rain. She looks down at the burning tea plants, and rain spills down her face like tears. She floats down to the earth. Knight says, "Yunn... Are you okay?" Yunn says nothing and looks to the burning plants.

Yunn places her hands on the plant's burns. Glowing, magical plant tendrils spill from the touch. When she removes her hand, the plant has been mostly healed. Knight looks up at her and says, "You can heal." A burned leaf crumbles in the rain. Off-screen, Yunn says, "A little. But some of it is already too far gone."

Knight leaps forward, using their blade to cut and deflect the fire. A small piece of the fire cuts through a section of Yunn's mane. "Azul!" Yunn shouts. "I'm so sorry, Yunn! This is all my fault..." They look over their shoulder. "I promise to help you defeat her!"

Yunn's mane smokes. "But... I dont *want* to defeat her in that way! She's clearly hurting, and--" The tea bushes next to Yunn catch aflame. They snap and pop. Yunn's face, shadowed and horrified, sharpens into anger. Her eyes turn slitted.

I'm sorry, I didn't know any of that! But the Tea Horse Road is gone! Times have changed!"

Assam's eyes narrow. She says, "You haven't." Assam's hand reaches out of her comic panels and snatches the end of Yunn's tail.

Assam lunges, teeth and claws bared. Yunn leans back as Azul rushes forward, calling Yunn's name. Yunn dodges Assam's attack and clicks her tongue in annoyance.

Yunn thinks: "I have to get her away from here." Assam smashes into the grass and spins around, growling. Yunn leaps into the air and flies away, a few loose leaves slipping from her mane.

Assam flares her wings and screams: "I won't let you get away!" Azul grabs their weapon and says, "No. I won't let you hurt Yunn."
