Heading to the garden for dinner 😋 Nearly the last of the broccoli, zucchini a going strong, and potatoes just starting to get picked. Definitely the season of abundance!

Another day, another 700g of raspberries for the freezer 😋

Sunshine after rain is the best time to get some weeding done in the garden - before and after in the onion patch.

First raspberry harvest of the season - we’re going to need a bigger bowl.

This week’s haphazard backyard floral arrangement. We’re getting more planted flowers blooming (peonies, speedwells, zinnias) but I’m not good at growing them to have long enough stems for cut flowers. Anyone with tips to share?

In hindsight, 6 parsley plants is about 5 too many.

Perennial flower plants growing in a corner of my backyard - peony with dark pink flowers in the back, monkshood on either side, and asiatic lilies with orange flowers in the front.

One of my fave spots in the garden, 12 year old peony was there first and the rest has been added through the years. The lilies are so lovely and cheerful and I want to add them everywhere!

Veggie garden update - still firmly in asparagus, kale, and herb season. Squash seem to be doubling in size weekly and are starting to flower. Peas netted to keep the birds away.

This little #LemonBalm plant was purchased last summer and lived on my balcony until fall. Then I re-potted it and placed in my apartment for the winter with some grow lights. It survived! Now it’s loving the outdoor life once again on my balcony! #apartmentlife #garden #herbgarden #zone3garden

Most recent chaotic arrangement from my garden - mostly weeds/wildflowers with a few cultivated additions - peony, chives, lupins.

First flowers of the season - I like chaotic arrangements so I don’t get too fussy with them. A mix of cultivated (lupines, Siberian iris, chives, ninebark) and weeds/wildflowers (yarrow, sweet clover, daisy) from my backyard. In a hand-me-down vase.

The book “A Shadow Crown” by Melissa Blair held up in front of raised garden beds.

It’s been raining for 2 days straight so I took advantage of a break in the clouds to get some fresh air and check on the rain barrels (full) and veggie garden (growing nicely). Then back to reading ✌️

More rain, good for the garden and a relief after years of wildfires. Water means growth and new things in the garden daily: feral maybe-gai-lan, some red leaved seedling apples, and salad greens coming along. Our last frost may be done, finally time to plant tomatoes and peppers 🌱

Eighteen seedling containers on a table in front of the window. Four have celery sprouts, one has a single pepper sprout, 13 just have soil.

Not an auspicious start for #Garden2025. Three weeks ago, we planted 14 containers with 2 hot pepper seeds each. We got 1 sprout. This weekend, we replanted 13 containers with 4 seeds each (a variety of peppers.) We're either going to have a pepper explosion or be stuck buying them. #Zone3Garden
