Ten years ago, when we lost Prince, thousands of Minnesotans filled the streets singing “Purple Rain.” A hometown star who had a way of bringing us together—and still does.

It’s not OK and it’ll never be, and this is coming from someone who consider him a *musical* hero, not a *personal* one.

By the time I found out about Prince’s grooming, his music had already left a permanent imprint on me. It’s a tension I’ll wrestle with for the rest of my life.

Cannot believe it’s already been a decade since Prince’s death. The word “genius” is comically overused in pop culture but he’s one of the few who unimpeachably warrants the term. youtu.be/5AyoxNQiVDg?...

Prince passed away ten years ago today.

I did this tribute art of him a few weeks after he died.

It gets lost in Prince being a teenager when Warners signed him that he was only 21 or just turning 22 when he recorded this masterpiece.

Just to say it: I will never, ever, ever, ever, EVER get over the Prince estate scrapping that documentary.

Today in History: April 21st

2016: Prince—who created groundbreaking music that fused funk, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and pop, which made him one of the biggest stars of the 1980s and '90s—died at age 57 from an accidental drug overdose.

Some of the other stories I gathered here include the time Prince invited me to his house, a glimpse at the Myst-like CD-ROM game he released in the 90s, some digital artifacts that I had the only copy of—including Prince’s own notes on his greatest hits, and the message behind his Super Bowl show.

Best concert of my lifetime was Prince and Janelle Monae at Madison Square Garden. Cyndi Lauper was in the front row and jumped on stage for the finale. My mind was forever blown, and nothing will ever top it.

RIP, icon.

one of my favorite prince stories is that Lil Troy was able to sample Little Red Corvette on the houston rap classic "Wanna Be A Baller" because they played it for Prince and he liked it so much he cleared it (from @jamildavid.bsky.social)

My uncle had an excellent Prince story.

He was a realtor and was out at Paisley Park for a meeting. He parked and got out when a mint condition classic car pulled up next to him.

The driver got out and my uncle said, "Cherry ride!"

The driver invited my uncle to see his car collection.

RIP to the GOAT Prince but I really gotta say I am not a fan of his estate releasing an entire posthumous album a decade after his death. From what I know he was obsessive about only releasing music he thought was ready and he should be lauded for that in an era of slop

The Victorian parliament building has been lit up purple tonite. I thought it was to acknowledge the 10 yr anniversary of Prince dying, but it turns out it's for what would've been the 100th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
