Rep Schrier (D, Washington) is drilling RFK Jr. about the “RFK Spillover Effect”. She asks him to say for the record that parents should give their newborns the vitamin K shot.

He refuses to do so, putting millions of newborns at risk for brain bleeds and brain damage.

Not a good sign….

It is currently unclear when Vice President JD Vance will leave Washington for Pakistan, sources familiar with the talks tell me. The White House is planning to hold further meetings Tuesday in DC to discuss the path forward, and Vance will be a part of them, they said.

Washington ordered smallpox inoculations for the Continental Army beginning in 1777.

Hegseth, therefore, is taking a mid-18th century, pre-Industrial Age approach to medicine and warfare.

So we really are down to a game of chicken….

Iran has conveyed "informally" to Pakistan that once the US delegstion led by Vice President JD Vance departs from Washington, it will greenlight its delegation to leave for Islamabad.-Pakistan Media

The thing about that Washington painting behind him:

“Washington wanted to make sure that his troops were not affected by disease, and he believed that inoculation would help with that. So, just before this letter was written, Washington created a mandated system of inoculating his soldiers.”

We are literally an independent nation partly due to Washington getting the smallpox inoculations were good policy.

This is dumb.

Fun history fact:
Requiring soldiers to get relevant vaccines is a founding principal of the us armed forces stretching back to Washington leading the revolutionary army.

So this change is explicitly anti-american.

Some historians argue that Washington’s order for mandatory inoculations was the most important decision he made in the Revolutionary War.

Washington ordered soldiers in the Continental Army to be inoculated against small pox in 1777, 11 years before the Constitution was ratified, so I'm not sure what he means by "restoring"

Ooooh somebody ask Hegseth if George Washington's troop vaccinations made Washington an 'un-american' leader.

I wrote about quantitative strain analysis of a squashed-pebble limestone conglomerate in the Kootenay arc of northeastern Washington state. Which means I spent a week on an aluminum ladder on a road cut measuring a gajillion pebbles and did some math about it.

This administration pretends to honor the 250th, but brazenly dismisses its most profound legacies. 250 years ago this month, Washington’s surgeon general John Morgan wrote that government must “provide for the safety of its members by rendering the practice of inoculation as universal as possible.”

Washington's ghost is staring into the distance and thinking about influenza and smallpox at Valley Forge.

We would not have succeeded in the Revolutionary War if Washington hadn't mandated smallpox inoculation for the Continental army. Our existence as a nation is predicated on vaccine mandates.

They will probably make the Parks Service take this page down soon, but Washington in fact ordered his army to be innoculated against smallpox:

seeing "Washington smallpox inoculation" trending reminds me public health sometimes needs hard, lifesaving choices. As an ICU nurse, I stand by prevention, vaccines win wars on disease.
