Raven and Red Kite Shingle Street. Both species now a regular sighting in our skies. #SuffolkBirding
Yep, those went in to. Never seen Treecreepers nest building before.
Making a real effort this year. Already had Mallard, Egyptian Goose and Blackbird with young. Nest building Blackcaps and sharming Water Rail recent highlights.
At this time of year when I'm out birding I really try to make an effort to add breeding evidence to my records. It's really quick and easy in @birdtrack.bsky.social and adds value to my records, especially for @ukrbbp.bsky.social species. Added P for pair in suitable habitat.

Really enjoyable pre-work walk around the patch this morning. Decent numbers of Sedge Warblers are now in, plus a few Whitethroat. Also singles of both Lesser Whitethroat and Willow Warbler, plus 3 Wheatear and a White Wagtail on the beach. 4 Barnacle Geese flew north first thing #SuffolkBirding
Illustration of 3 swimming Pink-footed Geese. Gouache on white paper.
Illustration of two swimming male Pintails. Coloured pencil and gouache on white paper.
Illustration of a first-winter Mediterranean Gull standing in wet mud. Coloured pencil (actually almost monochrome apart from a bit of brown in the wings!) on white paper.
Illustration of 6 adult LittleGulls flying right to left. Coloured pencil on white paper.
I haven't posted anything about it for a while, but I'm still plodding on with writing and illustrating my Birds of Eyebrook Reservoir book with a view to hopefully publishing next year. Here are a few more illustrations from it. #art #WildlifeArt #birds #UKBirding
First Wheatear of the year at Shingle Street this morning, also Willow Warbler, 4 Sedge Warbler and 2 Raven noted. #SuffolkBirding
Second helpings of the fantastic nest building Treecreepers at Minsmere. 14 Adders, 2 Grass Snakes, and several Common Lizards made for a good reptile day too. #SuffolkBirding
Very happy to find this beauty on Lowestoft South Beach this afternoon. It looked good for a Baltic Gull so I took a hasty phone pic. Id confirmed by people far more into gulls than me!
Lovely to watch a pair of Treecreepers nest building at Minsmere this afternoon. Such a characterful bird and a joy to watch. #SuffolkBirding
Great to see several Sandwich Terns back at Minsmere yesterday. Lots of strutting going on so hopefully they will stay and breed. #SuffolkBirding
Working in the garden this afternoon when 4 groups of Med Gulls went over totalling 19 birds, including a second summer. A great garden tick! #SuffolkBirding
Brief walk after work along the beach at the patch. A couple of smart Wheatear were my reward. First of the year for me #SuffolkBirding
A rather impressive looking hybrid (shoveler x blue winged teal) at Lochwinnoch today. #digiscoped with kowa884 using iphone16Pro and vario adapter

Grand Designs, Mute Swan style
Spending a lot of work time thinking about Bird Atlas 2027β31, like how to collect breeding evidence. So it was nice this morning to see Mute Swans nest building and a pair of Treecreepers engaged in courtship feeding (never seen this before), both logged in #BirdTrack

TENGMALM'S OWL at Ollaberry, Shetland this afternoon. Discovered yesterday by local residents myself and Logan Johnson decided to try and relocate it and after a bit of searching, a shape in a tree revealed itself to be this beauty!
