Day 22
There are two moons in Empaeria.
The silvery moon remains in the sky day and night. The pink one rises at night and sets in the morning. Danny does not learn their names yet.

Day 22
I have no pictures of the main antagonist.
You can still see them:
Go to the mirror and close your eyes. Think of the someone(s) you hate the most. Think of how much you would hurt them if you could w/o consequence.
Now look at yourself.

Day 22
"Dust" is a MG to YA portal fantasy so there are going to be tropes. That said, I like to skew them a little bit. The dragon saves the "hero," for example.
#WritingCommunity #BookSky
There's normal adolescent tension.
I'm drafting the second book and some characters start dating.
Great question! A old friend and I were bouncing a dada-style story between us about a boy and a dragon. With their permission, I ran with that basic premise.
I added a lot from there--the high school setting, and Shakespeare is huge in the whole intended series (each book parallels a play).
Thank you!! I have news on Friday 4-24 about it!

Day 21
Danny doesn't spend enough time anywhere to learn about local culture. The cervad seem to live in harmony with the surrounding forest. The city of Clemunz is an urban center like any other. As far as Danny can tell, people are literate.

Day 21
The big bad serves other, more powerful forces. They rely on these forces for orders and resources though Danny has zero knowledge of any of this.

"The Dust Behind the Door"
AMA!!!!

Day 20
Danny doesn't observe overt symbols among the eddar.
The cervad wear colorful trinkets to denote rank and authority.

Day 20
To quote Howard Ashman, "They're lousy with loyalty."
Enzo seems to be the only one to resist the oaths sworn generations ago. Gnoles are willing to die meaninglessly to feed the aessence of their purpose.

Day 20 overused word
"The."
Actually, I don't know. As soon as I notice I'm using a word a lot, I try to find synonyms or new sentences.

Day 19
People engage in all manner of work though the eddar have affinities. Oreddar are masons and wood wrights. Mereddar sail and fish. Caleddar are excellent smiths. Drakeddar are generalists. The sylpheddar aren't trusted with important work.

Day 19
The main villain in The Dust Behind the Door does eventually emerge and fight.
Their overlords remain hidden for now.

Day 19
Enzo affectionately calls Danny, "kid."
NOT a nickname but an epitaph:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
In Empaeria people refer to the sylpheddar as "filtheddar."
#WritingCommunity #BlueSky
That's awesome, congratulations!
This is what the expression, "I'm an adult!" was meant for.
I hope it's delicious!
#AprilWorldbuilders
Day 17
The drakeddar are friendly with the sylpheddar, as are the oreddar--mostly. Whenever things get bad, the oreddar blame the sylpheddar. After all, they started the war, didn't they?

Day 17
No comic-relief antagonist this time.

Day 17
Next (neglected) WIP is the sequel to The Dust Behind the Door- Fire That's Closest Kept.
I have a fairly massive TBR list. I usually grab a book from the "pile."

Day 16
When Danny travels to Empaeria, he takes the form of a sylpheddar. The sylpheddar are universally hated, discriminated against--even by their allies.

Day 16
Danny doesn't encounter a "second in command." Though he does discover that one of his mean project partners is worse than the other.

Day 16
The tree that fell was small, easy enough to move. I dragged it aside, sheets of rain parting on my shoulders. My neighbors could use the street again. They would all get home, safe and dry.
They came for me anyway.

Best I got is "Dread Journey" by Dorothy B. Hughes. Noir. Lots of suspense, some almost-romance. Excellent all the way through.

Day 15
The Eldest is a council that governs the Margrave Terrace. Danny is glad to meet them!

Day 15
Following the war with the sylpheddar, the gnoles made pacts with dark forces to retake and expand their lands. They now do the bidding of their evil overlords.

My, I've been busy!

Day 15
I prefer physical reading materials- books, magazines, etc.

A movie couple that would definitely have a podcast
We got all the corporate dystopia and none of the chrome...

Day 9
As a sylpheddar, Danny moves with a natural balance. His feet seem to find the best place to stand, especially on high mountain trails.
Enzo is a gnole and moves with hulking power.
Lia always carries herself with grace.
