Allergy season reminder: Allegra (fexofenadine) only exists because its predecessor, terfenadine, caused fatal heart arrhythmias via QT prolongation. Turns out terfenadine was just a prodrug - fexofenadine was doing all the work. A safer drug was hiding inside a dangerous one. #DrugDiscovery
