Dear #amf hive mind, look at this stained Plantago root. Can these little plushy structures really be arbuscules? I mean, "tree-like" describes it quite well, but I have never seen it like that. You??

Dear #plantscience bubble, could somebody please point me towards a collection of nice scientific illustrations/icons etc for making sweet scientific figures? The websites I tried focus on human/animal icons... #root #research #plantsci #ecology @joanabergmann.bsky.social

Intense farming weighs heavily on soil quality! 🌱
Meet arbuscular mycorrhizal #fungi (AMF)🍄, symbionts that help plants acquire nutrients.

What else are people using for public engagement with mycorrhiza? Would be keen to hear other ideas 😁

In our nature People can accurately judge biodiversity through sight and sound.

Humans can know intuitively when biodiversity is suffering, study finds

this is a HUGE loss for anyone trying to track changes in species distributions as the climate changes- if you need to know "hey were [insert species] in [place] in the mid-1800s", the odds are good your only info is a random book published back then. i've used it extensively!

@loutsi.bsky.social just talked about tropical tree species, and how knowing the belowground can help restoration efforts. Sweet talk, pretty venue at #rhizosphere6

Day2 of #rhizosphere6 conference. Just listened to such an engaging talk by @katiefield4.bsky.social that I even forgot to take a photo. Great science uncovering the role of fine root endophytes, the #mycoromycotina. #MFRE, let's go!

🌊🧪 So our P atom makes 100 round trips of 1000 years each during its stay in the ocean. It then becomes part of the sediment, where it remains for about 100 million years until it is uplifted and exposed again to continental erosion. The life of a typical P atom is, by human standards, indeed
