A person rides a bicycle past a Shell gas station on a sunny day. The price display shows the cost of regular unleaded fuel. Nearby, another individual walks along the sidewalk. Large trees and a building partially obscure the background. The setting appears urban.

Rising fuel costs are changing travel habits⛽️ New YouGov research for Cycling UK shows 28% of drivers are walking/cycling more, with 15% considering it.

Have you seen the @appgcw.bsky.social report on e-bikes?

In a nutshell they’ve got huge promise for transport #decarbonisation (especially given many car journeys remain single occupant and <3 miles) but lack of enforcement of existing rules jeopardises that.

LTNs cut road casualties in half, campaigners say

LTNs cut road casualties in half, campaigners say

Either you're happy for people to be killed and injured to save you a couple of minutes on your journey, or you're not. The evidence that LTNs and 20mph zones save lives is overwhelming.

60% of women limit how much they cycle due to safety concerns.🚲

Too often women must choose between busy roads with little protection or quieter routes with poor lighting. Both are unsafe.

I’m calling on the Government to build the infrastructure needed to make women feel safe on our roads.

So much of our infrastructure, planning, environmental, and road safety measures seem to be based around politicians' fear of slightly inconveniencing easily-angered motorists. Pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users are barely considered in their calculations.

#GreaterManchester, would you like a calmer, safer, less polluted journey to school?

#SchoolStreets reduce traffic and #AirPollution around schools and encourage walking, cycling & scooting. Get in touch with our GM Co-ordinator Liz at manchester@mumsforlungs.org if you want this at your school!

How do you know your city is a healthy habitat for people? A decent place to start is whether children can play freely in their neighbourhoods and get around independently.

This is an excellent introduction to Tim’s work and the benefits of shifting away from car centric urban spaces.

Good to see an MP speaking up on #PavementParking - five years after the consultation closed there is public appetite for action. Councils need the powers to enforce (including retention of fines to pay for other road safety initiative)

More than 600 dead after earthquake hits Afghanistan, officials say Authorities said that more than 1,500 people were injured by the 6.0-magnitude earthquake

Disappointing that the Government’s strategy for the #InactivityPandemic is to encourage people to go for a run (which people with busy lives will find hard to make time for) rather than building in ‘incidental exercise’ by making it easier to walk to the shops or school #ActiveTravel

As the schools go back, the additional traffic from the school run will be obvious. For a substantial proportion, especially primary, the distance to school is less than a mile so walking, wheeling or cycling would be feasible if it felt safer to do so #SchoolStreets @solveschoolrun.bsky.social

We need to curb carspreading - Transport for Quality of Life Limited Reversing the trend towards heavier, longer, wider and higher cars would make our streets healthier, safer and more people-friendly; and could leverage funds to improve alternatives to car travel.

A good read on why we need to reverse the trend towards ever bigger cars.

Children are 82% more likely to be killed in a collision with an SUV rather than a small car.
