My photo shows a Roman Rippenschale (ribbed) blue glass drinking cup with a rounded body and slightly flaring rim. There is some breakage to the rim. The ribs run vertically around the body of the cup, with horizontal bands of white trail decoration around the cup. At the rear of the museum display case, part of a larger ribbed dark blue glass bowl can be seen.

So excited to get this online! Merch for my upcoming Valleys show in Clwb Ffoto, Newport (launch event March the 6th)- definitely as a print, and hopefully as a tea towel! All the colours are picked from my own actual photos, and as such are part of the fabric of the Valleys!
Now in the care of Newport Museums & Heritage Service - stored in the same facility as the Medieval Ship. It would be good to see it on display one day.
More footage- Student led peaceful protest in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. The police chief showed up in plain clothing and assaulted two students.
Barlands Farm boat which dates from the 3rdC AD belongs to a "Romano-Celtic' tradition. With its mast step confirming propulsion by sail, this relatively sophisticated vessel may owe more to late #IronAge traditions.

Many congratulations to Dr Alex Langlands & team from Swansea for this stunning new discovery from Margam Park in south Wales ๐ฎ๐ฅณ.
The coastal belt in south Wales is very heavily ploughed, but it sounds like this villa complex has been preserved below old parkland ๐

When will this crisis get any attention whatsoever!? A THOUSAND ACADEMIC STAFF AT ONE INSTITUTION SERVED REDUNDANCY RISK NOTICES! And that's not counting what's surely being visited on professional services staff too. This is an economic catastrophe, to say nothing of the intellectual catastrophe!
Farage's protรฉgรฉs, colleagues & close friends.
Not sure shouting "Bernard Manning" like a closing time drunk will help much here.
I'm assuming this incredible book is on everybody's shelves (or devices) - & if not it's on your Christmas list๐๐ง
Brilliantly written & includes the best description of the frenetic & brutal attack on Ynys Mรดn/ Anglesey by the Romans in AD60 โ๏ธ๐
Yesterday, a chance for me to take an image I've had in mind for months- Matthew and Michael in homage to Richard and Dic Bach
An incredible end to an incredible tour. Back to where it all started in Pontrhydyfen, Burton's birthplace- incredible stuff from Matthew Rhys as Burton
โSpeaking outside his chateau in France, former Brexit Party and UKIP MEP Coburn answered "no" when a BBC journalist asked him whether he had ever been paid to give a speech to promote pro-Russian campaigners.โ
Great work from @BBCWales. Keep going
Thanks for asking, but not just now.
No.
Yes, I am doing some Roman cooking with herbs from the Museum garden.
Butrint, a UNESCO #WHS, is slowly sinking due to the natural geography of its site in Southern #Albania.
This niche is part of a Temple complex dedicated to Roman god of medicine, Aesclepius. Modern walkways keep visitorsโ feet dry.

Celebrations at Caerleon, marking the 175th anniversary of the opening of the National Roman Legion Museum. Over 800 visitors came to activities at the amphitheatre, the church, the neighbouring school and the museum itself.

There was a racist pogrom in Ulster literally weeks ago. An actual violent pogrom. People fled their homes in terror.

Simply this.
There is some very good advice here from HE.
If you are interested in this area, especially in developing awareness and training in #HeritageCrime it is worth having a word with Mark Harrison, HE's subject lead, who has really driven this area of their work.
A statue of a man, whose arms are raised in exhortation and mouth is open as in speech. The statue is placed before a mural showing various union banners.
In Belfast, so went to see the statue of Big Jim Larkin, leader of the Dublin lock-out. His great rousing lines are more pertinent than ever: โThe great appear great because we are on our knees: Let us rise."
Tiberius Flavius Postumius Varus is thanked for restoring the Temple of Diana at Caerleon. A pity nobody thought to mention where the temple might be.

Caerwent head
A few years ago I had the good fortunate to l handle this Caerwent find, usually displayed at Newport Museum, when it returned 'home' on a day trip for a S4C TV programme. Celtic? British? Romano-British?

Much of the remains of the forum basilica of Roman Bologna, built in the first century BCE, lie beneath the floor of the Sala Borsa library at Piazza Nettuno.
