Stinkhorn. Smelled it before I saw it! They really are quite stinky... Super fun to actually see one IRL though, despite the scent of rotting meat. I wish I'd had my nice camera with me, but alas, just a phone photo.

Trying to instil a love of spiders in my little ones has been a challenge against a backdrop of cultural fear of them, but I'm getting there I think! They're so beautiful and beneficial. Here's one of my most recent photos πŸ•·οΈπŸ•ΈοΈ

Look at those shiny wings! This is a flower fly, and it was very chill about letting me take it's photo.

One from summer. I got a super-macro lens and flash kit for my birthday, so spent some time in the deep, dark woods getting up close and personal with ferns!

A close up of an amanita mushroom in the dark, dark woods. You can see the 'spots' on the cap, and leaves around the base. The top is a reddy-brown, and fades to white at the edges. The stem is white.

Finally managed to get out to the woods after a very busy conference season at work, and I wasn't disappointed. Found this beautiful amanita hiding in my regular amanita spot :) it was quite dark, so had to try and rescue it in post. The cap was blushing pink #FungiFriends #WalkInTheWoods #Mushroom

I was just thinking this morning that it's nearly chanterelle season! Exciting 😁

The starlings in our garden have had probably less than four (although you never know with them), but they're so ridiculously splashy that nobody else could have one.

A yellow flower, looking a little the worse for wear due to the hot weather. You can see other flower petals just behind it, and some in the background. It rests on a green stem, and there are more green stems behind as well.

It's flipping hot here today, and nothing captures quite how I feel as much as this common wallflower, wilting in the heat.

I looked at his other paintings, and I think power lines just work differently in Canada to the UK. We don't really have any that look like that, but most of his pictures show power lines with an additional cable part way down the pole. Learnt something new, which is always good :)

Yeah, sorry about that. I trust so little online these days! But I admit I was wrong, and apologise to you and the other person who corrected me. His art is beautiful, and I'm very glad it's real.

Ok, I stand corrected πŸ˜„ sorry for being so bull-headed! I edit a magazine and we get a lot of AI articles, and I'm fed up with the whole thing, and trust very little online these days. Thank you for having the patience to correct me, as well.

Of course it is πŸ€” it looks cool, but it's 100% AI.

Yeah, I haven't even looked at Pinterest in the last year because it's all worthless now. Such a shame!

It's not, it's AI - the powerlines don't touch the posts, for a start. Such a shame the internet has come to this.

Happy #FungiFriday everyone! Loving this supremely witchy Amanita Fulva (Tawny Grisette) that I found power-posing on a tree stump in Sleepy Hollow. I've just found out that they're edible, although I don't normally mess with an Amanita.

I've been walking in the woods every morning for the past couple of months, and I'm really valuing how much it's changed me - being consistent, getting exercise, surrounding myself with nature. It can be hard to fit it all in with kids and work, but it's been so worth doing. Spotted a Jay earlier!

Here for #ThickTrunkTuesday with the bark on this tree. Just look at it. Mesmerising.

Happy #FungiFriday, mushroom botherers πŸ„ this gorgeous little guy (Magpie Inkcap) has been nibbled on, but he still looks ever so charming popping up out of the leaves like that.

This was one of the pics in my first ever post

So romantic πŸ₯Ή As a Moss, representing the Moss name, I can confirm that - as well as mushrooms - I do also love moss. There are some stunning mosses out there. So fluffy and squishy. I keep trying to propagate it in the lines between the paving slabs in my garden: no luck yet!

Hey #FungiFriends! I found this yummy chanterelle, along with a huge number of others, in a location that I refuse to disclose just in case πŸ˜‚ we've picked a basket full of these every summer for the last four years, and eaten them all buttery on their own. Splendid.

One of two Chicken of the Woods I've found so far. It was in a super-high-traffic area (perfect dog pee height) so I left it where it was πŸ˜† The other one I found was too high up to reach, otherwise I'd have probably harvested some. Apparently is good eating.
