This is really helpful for someone who doesn't visit Hull often, thank you! Looking forward to contributing some records

Redstart, Wheatears (4), Yellow Wags (2) & Red Kite have been the highlights over these past few days of #patchbirding. 11 new species for the year, taking me to 105 points for the challenge already! A big head start on last year π¦
Photograph of the book The New Birds of the Sheffield Area. There is a photograph of a singing Wood Warbler on the cover.
A photograph of a page of The New Birds of the Sheffield Area detailing Franklinβs Gull with my watercolour of a winter plumaged Franklins Gull with Black-headed Gulls.
Got my copy of The New Birds of the Sheffield Area a few days ago. Itβs seriously good. I can see I am going to lose hoursπ Gratuitous photo of one of the illustrations I did for it too. #Birds #UKbirding #sciart
A list of butterfly species with a watercolour painting filling the right 2/3rds of the page with 7 species on different wild plants. Top to bottom: Gatekeeper, Common Blue, Clouded Yellow, Brown Argus, Green-veined White, Speckled Wood, Small Copper
Here's the last painting I produced for the report on my local wildlife π¦ Butterflies and plants are new subjects for me art-wise but it would be a crime to leave a page on butterflies without an illustration

Amazing to hear, thanks! It's a little quiet at the moment but I'm looking forward to Summer as well
Great set of sightings and amazing Bearded Tit photo!
Thank you Charlotte! π It had been on my mind for a while and I finally got around to making it
I made a glow-in-the-dark sticker inspired by my time finding Jack Snipe with a thermal at Spurn.

Itβs been a good winter for Jack Snipe at Cley NWT, with a bird favouring the cut reeds near Bishopβs Hide. However, seeing them is a different matter !
Short-eared Owl in flight
The long awaited owls returned to the #patchbirding list last month. Both Short-eared and Barn Owl. Neither of which had been seen in over a year. And can't forget the 80 feeding White-fronts either! Very lucky to see them in such numbers.

Thanks for letting me know Alan. I saw a little about it on Facebook but haven't been to that side of town recently. I've been meaning to go but the temptation to go birding instead keeps winning π
Thank very much Ray. I love your work in the Spurn reports, really inspiring
I look forward to sending one out to you once they arrive with me! Thanks again Alan π
Thank you very much James!
Thank you! π
Thank you again! Hope you enjoy the read π
Thank you for the purchase Mac! I look forward to sending it over. Sounds like it could be an interesting project π
Thank you very much for checking it out Alan! I hope you enjoy the read π
A photo of a booklet being held out with a landscape in the background and watercolour birds around. The text on the front cover reads 'Figham Common' Bird Report 2025β
Five pages of the report layered on top of each other. Featuring text, illustrations and photographs on a dark green background.
The bird report that Iβve been writing about my #patchbirding is now out!
It includes many months of research, writing, illustrations, and photographs from the local community too. It is free to look through and I hope a nice read even for those not local π¦

Some excellent goose watching in North Norfolk over the last week. A notable influx of White-fronted, Barnacle and Tundra Bean Geese joining the Pinkfeet flocks. The Netherlands is most likely the origin of these birds. Certainly livened up the grey weather.
Nice choice π
Thanks Mac! You should have go, it was tricky but very rewarding. Those Linnets in particular took me forever to get looking okay π
Thank you! π
