Days of Easterlies with low cloud and drizzle produced an amazing spring ringing session at the Jew’s Gate Observatory #Gibraltar. 127 new birds with day records of 28 Bonelli’s Warbler and 8 Woodchat Shrikes will be hard to beat. #birdringing #gonhs
A strange few ringing days at the #Gibraltar bird observatory. The 8th and 9th ever Goldcrests. Only the 6th ever spring Bullfinch and firsts for the year of Redstart, Bonelli’s & Subalpine Warbler and Tree Pipit. #birdringing #gonhs
A Black-headed Gull (2F06) I ringed in Southend-on-Sea in February 2023 was in a Dutch colony at Zoetermeer by the following month. It’s now back in the same colony for its fourth consecutive season, having been seen there this week! 🇳🇱🧪🌍 #EssexBirding #BirdRinging

I hadn’t ringed Dartford Warbler here on #Gibraltar in the spring until this year and another turns up. This 2nd calendar year bird showed some interesting secondary moult. #gonhs #birdringing
Purple Sandpiper showing a glint of purple at Low Newton. 70+ here the last 2 days, it's the largest count for a while.
A marked increase in visitor disturbance/dogs at Low Newton corresponds with a reduction in these and other shorebirds over the last 20 years. 😞

It's World Wetlands Day!
We want to take a moment to celebrate those who work tirelessly to protect these vital landscapes.
We can't wait to gather with just a small handful of these individuals at our European Fieldworker Workshop this weekend.

Yes am sure I had one at Whittledene Res this morning. Nearly no white spots on primaries.
I've called on the UK Government to license gamebird shooting in England and give Hen Harriers the protection they deserve.
Please help spread the word - contact your MP today and help stop the illegal killing of these incredible birds!
