Students love my rubber band filled ball…but we used ones that actually bounce for this!

Yesterday in #ALevelMaths we had lots of fun bouncing balls - calculating the coefficient of restitution and then using it to estimate the height of the room. Organised chaos! An activity picked up from the AMSP / MEI further mech course.

I’m hoping to examine this year, but haven’t received a contract yet.

Have you done it before? How much teacher involvement is there? It looks like students just enter and participate independently?

I’d missed this…may have left it too late to get involved this year.

Ok. So I tried this with my pure A Level marking. It meant a hellish start on Q15 yesterday, but I really appreciated the ease of the ‘later’ questions today…although a vectors question at #6 was not welcome!

Today’s Y13 starter - I really like how c & d can be solved either by changing the inequality and using the original distribution, or by transforming the distribution and using the original values. #MathsToday #ALevelMaths
