We built the first transgenic model of menstruation in mice.
We used it to uncover how the endometrium organizes and sheds during menstruation. 🧪

Check out this fun preview of my postdoctoral work! It highlights our findings plus lots of intriguing questions that I’m super excited to tackle in the coming years. (And the model is beautiful! Thank you! 🧑🎨 )
Happy to see this work published in RNA, and thanks to the editors for the interview/Meet the First Author Feature! Surprisingly, we found that mutating an RNA binding protein's ability to bind RNA did not remove all biological function. #RNAsky #RNAbiology.

An interesting perspective and framework: #RNA condensates-not individual RNAs-may have acted as replicative units in early life. RNAs in condensate recruit similar RNAs, then the condensate divides once it reaches a critical size.

Next Thursday we are hosting a virtual RNA Club with Adam Cawte and Isaia Berbieri! Please join us for some cool RNA talks 😎🧬 Checkout our other threads for a little sneak preview 👀 Thank you to our sponsors @rnasociety.bsky.social and Lexogen !
Our latest paper is out in NAR! 🥳
In collaboration with @saramaciasrna.bsky.social, we show DGCR8 haploinsufficiency disrupts pluripotency in hESC by affecting primate-specific miRNAs and TEs. Our findings highlight a co-evolved miRNA-TE network in primates.

Schematic of potential complexes that form between TAM receptors and apoptosis cells or viruses at the cell surface
Our lab is excited to hire a postdoctoral researcher to study the mechanisms that viruses use to ‘hijack’ TAM receptors in viral spread. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn new techniques and work in a highly collaborative team! Please share!
