To the left the river looks calm and smooth, but the water turns white as it falls over the sharp edges of rock and becomes a waterfall. In the background there are trees, and the sky is blue with white clouds.

Chasing Waterfalls

Darn right I'll chase waterfalls. But if I ever go back to Kakabeka Falls, I'm bringing extra bug spray.

Gorgeous place. Horrendous mosquitoes.

Two large orange tulips are the focus of the photo, with smaller red tulips behind them. The tulips are cup-shaped and have six large petals with pointed tips. They remind me of stars.

Multiflowering Tulip

There has been so much to see lately, from the amazing photos from Artemis II to the flowers of spring at our own feet. Whether you're looking up or looking down, there's beauty everywhere.

FIREFLY!!

I have no idea how many times I've watched the show. I absolutely love it. And if we can bring it back, you know what that makes us? Big damn heroes!

Three 32-pounder smooth-bore guns lie on the ground with white and yellow wildflowers growing around them. They have the royal cypher of Queen Victoria on them, and two of them say 1841 and one says 1844. The red brick building in the background is the powder magazine, restored in 2001.

They are usually mounted on reproduction oak carriages at Prince Edward Battery, PEI, Canada.

The river flows from bottom right to top left, past a rocky point of land with sparse vegetation and a few small trees. Barely connected to the land is a large, dark chunk of rock with nothing growing on it.

The rock is bare because it gets submerged when the tide comes in. The difference between low and high tide is 8.5 meters (28 feet)!

The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the whole world. At its highest point, the tide reaches 17 meters (56 feet); the height of a five storey building!

Reversing Falls

At low tide, as seen here, the Saint John River flows into the Bay of Fundy. Naturally, right? But at high tide, it reverses, and the river flows backwards!

Toonie Tuesday

Actually I took the photo on a Wednesday. It would've been cool if it had been a Tuesday though.

Anybody else miss the days when two bucks could buy you a cheap lunch?

A black butterfly with white spots sits on my hand, wings together. There are large green leaves in the background and I am holding a pamphlet with a parrot visible on it.

The edges of the butterfly's wings are tattered, showing that it is not very young. It's possible that somebody tried to pick it up. Please, if you visit a butterfly garden, do not attempt to pick up the butterflies!

Two tiger lily flowers on a stem. They are orange with dark spots, and their petals curl upward while the long stamens fall downward. It had rained recently, and the slender leaves are wet while raindrops cling to the flowers.

Terrible pun aside, this was an impressive statue and I wish the photo did it better justice.

Millions Of Pounds

The average weight of a cumulus cloud is 1.1 million pounds, or 500,000 kilograms. But they still look like cotton candy to me.

Sad Little King Of A Sad Little Hill

For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #MoodyFaces, a Cackling Goose who doesn't feel like cackling. Maybe they got tired of being mistaken for a Canada Goose. Maybe the other goose got tired of hearing about it. Who knows.
