The river flows from bottom right to top left, past a rocky point of land with sparse vegetation and a few small trees. Barely connected to the land is a large, dark chunk of rock with nothing growing on it. The rock is bare because it gets submerged when the tide comes in. The difference between low and high tide is 8.5 meters (28 feet)! The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the whole world. At low tide, as seen here, the Saint John River flows into the Bay of Fundy. Naturally, right? But at high tide, it reverses, and the river flows backwards!
