#Census1926 something v small, but touching detail from my searches. I got to tell my father that his mother (who died when he was 5) was called Tessie by her family. He never knew that 💕

Thanks his surname is O’Riordan, so I’ve tried all the usual versions of it , including Irish, but no joy. Even tried searching with surname and age range across all counties but still nothing, it’s a bit of a puzzle.
Yes thought of that and have expanded it , thanks - very common name so there will be a lot of entries to trawl through even narrowing down for age.
#Census1926 hmm a key relative (with a very common name) not showing up. Anyone have any suggestions why this might be? I know his DoB so have done focussed searches using Irish and English versions of his surname +/- O’ / Mac, but no joy. Anyone any other suggestions?
#speirgorm #spéirghorm anyone just sitting around scrolling waiting for it to hit midnight to see the 1926 census? #genealogy nerd 🤓
The Irish Free State Census of 1926 is about to be released to the public.
Here is a scan of the cover of my aunt's Free State passport issued just a year later on 27th August 1927.
(name removed)
It will be the first appearance of my maternal grandparents and my fraternal grandmother and hoping to fill in a gap regarding marital status of a couple of family members that have proved difficult to trace so far
😂 snap
There’s a whole heap of form here right back to student days …. I’ve missed (not) seeing his name in my feeds since I left X but this is something I’ll enjoy keeping an eye on
Happy 1926 census week for all those who celebrate! #geneaology #speirghorm #speirgorm
Trays of baked goods, muffins, la loaf and a crumble
Nothing a love more than a chance on a rainy, cold Sunday that to put on a roast dinner and do a spot of baking, using up all the almost too ripe bananas, pears and apples.
Grange Hill flew under my mother’s radar 😁, as did all the dodgy 1980s Jilly Cooper books
I wasn’t allowed watch Dallas or Knots Landing. 😁
I recently had an expense claim returned to me on no less than 6 different occasions for very, very minor queries, each time involved a flurry of emails and resubmissions & sign off by a Dean. How is this a good use of anyone’s time? The cost in person hours way exceeded the amount I was claiming

Hmmm perhaps, but the shape of the petals (not too clear in this picture) are definitely more Toadflx-y :)

The absolute joy of a warm, comfy chair and a good book and a few hours of reading, after being outside with the dogs in the most gorgeous remote cottage for the weekend. Check out the view from outside our bedroom! Bliss
Was going to post exactly this and add in “Rich” and “the Thornbirds” that got passed around our all girls secondary school in the 1980s.
I read this book at about same age, couldn’t remember its title, thank you so much for posting. I had finished every single book in our children’s section by the time I was 10, no big deal really it was only 3 shelves & the librarian carefully curated books from the adult section. Librarians rock!
That’s class, I’d steal it but I’ve a feeling too many of my students would take it seriously!!!
Well Dave can just done one! I’m off to the Kingdom for the first time since I was a child with a list of stones to bother and I haven’t got time for his shenanigans!
2026 - a year where detecting April Fool’s day shenanigans is depressingly hard given all the actual craziness happening.

A super day full of #spring promise. A great presentation by my MSc student on the topic of sustainability in the pharma industry and then a lovely walk with beautiful spring flowers peaking out in the warm weather
This exactly, ‘cos it’s not like that has ever happened to us before 🤓
