The estimated prevalence of chronic post-surgical pain was 7.2% - 1 in 14 patients!

It was associated with:
• week 1 pain scores
• orthopaedic, breast & plastic surgery
• non-surgical site chronic pain at baseline
• deprivation
• ethnicity

Many patients are still in pain 3 months after their surgery.

Certain procedures have much higher rates of chronic pain after 3 months, including orthopaedic (35%), breast (15%) & gynaecological (11%).
