Do metabolic fluxes change with age? Metabolomes change with age. Yet, fluxomics points to a contradiction: Jankowski et al. in Cell Metabolism report shifts in metabolite concentrations in aged mice, alongside largely preserved metabolite fluxes, evoking important questions on the nature of age-related metabolic disturbances. We discuss how this might recalibrate our understanding of aging metabolism.

A metabolic alarmin from keratinocytes potentiates systemic humoral immunity - Nature Farnesyl pyrophosphate—a mevalonate pathway metabolic intermediate—is an endogenous alarmin that enhances IgG antibody responses through keratinocyte-derived IL-6 and CCL20.

#WeekendRead! #ImmunometabolismPower! #EveryCellIsAnImmuneCell! Ji, Zhang, Lu, Liu &co show @nature.com that infection, irradiation, or lupus #SLE induce a mevalonate intermediates that drives IL6 & CCL20 by #keratinocytes via NFAT to potentate antibody production!

Native chromatome profiling reveals hundreds of metabolic enzymes in the nucleus across tissues - Nature Communications Here proteomic chromatome analysis shows metabolic enzymes widely localize to chromatin in cancer in a tissue-specific manner. Nuclear enzymes affect DNA damage/repair and transcription, revealing non...

New paper out in Nature Communications:
www.nature.com/articles/s41...
We found >250 metabolic enzymes on chromatin.
Only ~20 had been reported before.
This means hundreds of metabolic enzymes may have unexplored nuclear roles.

Anybody got an example of substrate channeling where an isotopic label in a specific product is more enriched than the tracer? I know this is theoretically possible with compartmentalized pools but I am drawing a big old blank on relevant literature?
