🔃 Trade agreements are increasingly seen as tools to facilitate the trade of low-carbon products, like green steel.

But mass balance, a way of mixing clean and conventional production methods, could undermine those trade measures.

It's #InternationalEwasteDay & @microsoft.com is making up to 400 million computers obsolete.

From today👇

💻 No more #Windows10 automatic support for all PCs
🗑️ #ewaste could jump by 700 million kg

We need laws that make companies provide software & support for the full lifetime of their products.

🚨4 weeks until @microsoft.com ends free support for Windows 10, making 400 million PCs obsolete. And - ironically - it's happening on #EWasteDay, just days before #RepairDay.

We don’t have to accept fast tech. Communities worldwide are repairing, resisting, and demanding better ✊ find out how below

"This definition of 'low-carbon' hydrogen is based on unrealistically low methane emission values that don't reflect the reality on the ground. By giving it an advantage, the European Commission has created an uneven playing field for renewable hydrogen - the only kind with near-zero emissions. Low-carbon cannot deliver what no-carbon can, and it shouldn't get a free pass to pollute. This will only lock Europe into fossil fuel use and jeopardise climate goals."

🚨 The EU has just classified fossil-based #hydrogen projects using #CCS as ‘low-carbon’.

However, the chosen definition is based on estimated #methane emission values that are too low, which will lock Europe into continued fossil fuel use.

Defining low-carbon hydrogen: How to do it right - ECOS The EU is about to define what kinds of hydrogen can be called ‘low-carbon’. What definitions are the most accurate, and how can they be integrated into EU law?

Not all #hydrogen is created equal ⚖️ From high to low, emissions vary.

😈 The devil is in the definitions — and the EU’s Low-Carbon Fuels Delegated Act is about to set them.

The big question: what kinds of hydrogen should qualify as ‘low-carbon’? 🤔👇

Wood stoves without filters? EU study warns of high health costs New evidence shows that mandating filters in wood-burning heaters could cut harmful particle emissions by 70%, reducing the health burden.

🔥 Wood stoves: romantic, rustic, and deadly.

Wood burning is the EU’s top source of fine particle pollution (PM2.5) from energy.

A new EEB study shows that mandatory filters on new stoves could slash toxic emissions by 70% – at a cost of less than 0.5% of annual household income.

How to decarbonise heating and cooling by 2030: The path to renewable, healthy, and efficient buildings in the EU

Heating and cooling buildings requires a lot of energy.

Around half of all the energy we consume in the EU goes towards it — and most of that is still from polluting fossil fuels 😷

The EU has all it needs to change this. How? 🧵👇
