Pershore Wetland Meadows has not been counted for the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) since 2020. It hosts a good selection of common wildfowl, occasional Waders & Egret species. Would be good to get it counted again, especially for core winter dates. If of interest see link in Bio. Cheers #worcsbirds
Congratulations on your new appointment Ian
We need your help again.
Coul Links is an extraordinary coastal dune habitat, home to rare and remarkable wildlife.
But it is now threatened for a second time by plans for an 18-hole golf course that would cause irreparable damage.
Your voice could help save it. 👇
A close, detailed portrait of a Swift’s face. Its dark eyes and sleek feathers fill the frame, showing a rare close-up this special and vulnerable bird.
Last night, Peers voted against Swift bricks: rejecting a simple, proven way to help one of our fastest declining birds recover. ❌
We share @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social's disappointment & frustration.
The vote came late, but with government refusing to back it, its fate was already sealed.

Worrying reports of bird flu (avian influenza) are coming in, including an outbreak in Whooper Swans in the Fens. Other waterbirds are also being affected, and cases are rising.

Vacancy on BOU Records Committee. Are you up for it? I found it a really interesting and educational experience. Happy to share my experience if you are interested.

Desperately seeking three French hens and a partridge in a pear tree to join these two Oriental Turtle Doves. Yes, it was back to the drawing board overnight and a retrospective ID on one of the 'turtle' doves we'd already retrospectively identified yesterday. A thread...
Highlights of the last few days of the season were Little Bunting, Firecrest, Barred Warbler and Long-eared Owl, but the best of the week waited until a day after the last census of the year, a Black-faced Bunting at Shirva!

It was a good day for our Shetland tour on Yell and Unst. Highlights included Common Rosefinch, Hawfinch, 4 Glossy Ibis and, perhaps best of all, this confiding Short-toed Lark.

Crossbill over Morton Bagot this morning. Also one of the ringers, Ischia, mentioned she had rescued a Manx Shearwater from a car park in Droitwich on 18 Sept. Here's a photo of it. I understand it was taken to Vale Wildlife Sanctuary and later released on the Severn #Worcsbirds #Warksbirds
