Possibly Bergenia cordifolia, though with so many similar cultivars it’s hard to pin down exactly. Either way, a proper sign that spring’s up and running.

Dating back to the 12th century, the church still retains its original oak door. In the grounds stand two ancient yew trees, thought to be over 2,000+ years old, which long predate the church.

The window is dedicated to Sir Thomas Sopwith, aviation pioneer.
