This was the first Jodi Picoult book that I've read and if the others are anything like this, I'll line up to read them. Beautiful prose and dialogue and a stunning amount of research done to produce this novel. #BookSky #52Books #52BookChallenge

This was fun. Flip through it in an evening. Terrific illustrations and an exhibit that I would like to see in person one day. Sara Berman's Closet by Maira Kalman and Alex Kalman. #BookSky #52Books #52BookChallenge

I know I'm late to the game but this was recommended by so many that I had to read it. Waited for months on Libby to get it and so glad I did. It's a beautiful story that we should all read. #BookSky #52books #52bookchallenge

Sigh. This memoir or remembrance is a poignant piece written by a mother after the loss of two sons to suicide. She deals with facts. Although she now lives in the abyss, she is the still the mother and they are still her sons. She strives to understand and accept. #Booksky #52Books #52BookChallenge

The Pulitzer Prize got it right the year this was selected. Beautiful writing & a story I will continue to think about. I'm quite certain that I will read it again. Thanks to @retired-librarian.bsky.social for introducing it as one of the #BannedBooks #BannedBookSky #BookSky #52books #52bookchallenge

As part of my dry January, I read this book. Clearly built around one woman's serious journey but some very relevant and interesting chapters along the way. The format is great for individuals wanting to make change. Read a little, reflect and write. #BookSky #52BookChallenge #52Books

If you get the audio book, Meryl Streep narrates and does a lovely job. She just "seems" like the right voice for this tale. I enjoyed the protagonist sharing the story of an early romance with her daughters and appreciating the life she chose. #BookSky #52Books #52BookChallenge

Listened to this on a long drive. Bottomline: focus on the gain - not the gap. Measure backwards. There are a few nuggets like identifying tomorrow's gains tonight but I resented some of the analogies like the one where the author was potty training his children. #Booksky #52books #52bookchallenge

A gem recommended by @retired-librarian.bsky.social as part of her #BannedBooks reading. Loved the illustrative dialogue and think it should be required reading. Chuckled when one of the reasons for banning was that the protagonist was older than her lover??? #BookSky #52BookChallenge #52Books

Fascinating tale built around topics that Allende often explores. Oh such a twist of fate on one winter night and how three people come together to live it out. Very enjoyable.

Finished this biographical novel about Josephine Baker, who I knew little about. An amazing story about being born into poverty and racism, becoming an entertainer and later part of the French resistance. Heartbreaking but encouraging. #booksky #52bookchallenge #NotGettingTo52ThisYear

Clockwise from top right: biscuit with margarine and strawberry jelly, Gardein turk’y roast, mashed potatoes and peas, cornbread dressing on a maroon FiestaWare plate on a cutting board. A teal FiestaWare ramekin contains coleslaw with craisins, cabbage, sliced almonds, Dijon mustard maple syrup vinaigrette and topped with wonton strips. All vegan. 🌱

A medium dull yellow building with vertical strips in the right half. The shadow from the left side of the building that is more forward cuts diagonally across the uprights on the right. The left half of the building is built from concrete blocks with an angled roof on top. Near the center of the left side is a brighter patch of yellow paint that is probably covering graffiti. The asphalt in front of the is cracked and appears to have some yellowish coloring striated in it, maybe moss? The sky is clear and bright blue. Overall the photo has lots of angles and lines and colors and textures.

Forgot to post October’s @thestorygraph.com recap, but here’s November. 96 books finished this year so far. Lots of good ones this month. #52bookchallenge 💙📚#BookSky
Also a photo of our vegan Thanksgiving* dinner and a photo of a building that reminded me of photos I used to take.

My reading has slowed a bit in this last quarter but I just finished this beautifully written tale. Obviously worthy of a Pulitzer and so surprisingly different from other books that I have read by the same author. #Booksky #52BookChallenge #52Books

One of the better books that I have read this year. Stephen Johnson explores innovation in a thoughtful way with evidence about where good ideas incubate and grow. #booksky #52bookchallenge #52books

This was my first Freida McFadden and it was a page turner for me. I understand that others found it formulaic but since I haven't read others, it was well done. Great character development through Milly's voice.

I heard about this book a few years ago and finally listened to it via Libby. It's great investigative reporting and writing. I appreciated the way the book ends - not with a lesson but with questions that still exist about tissue sampling and directives. #booksky #52books #52bookchallenge

August 2025 @thestorygraph.com recap - I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman was bleak but good. Harlem Shuffle fulfilled “book with a heist” for #52bookchallenge. The Mighty Red was just good Midwestern family drama. 💙📚 #BookSky (71 books finished so far this year.)

Chosen by my book club and not my pick but I picked up the audio version, read by Ina Gartner and enjoyed hearing about her life. Definitely some nuggets in there! #booksky #52books #52bookchallenge

I wasn't feeling great this weekend and spent my time reading this amongst other things. It was interesting. I can't say I loved it but the writing is very good and the tale certainly captured my attention. #booksky #52bookchallenge

Left book is Colson Whitehead’s novel Harlem Shuffle which has blocks of yellow, read and green and black text making up the cover. Right book is Killer on the Road by Stephen Graham Jones which has a black background with the title in large red letters and the main image is a woman’s face on monotone yellow with a small red car driving diagonally across the image to “rip” her face with a green skull revealed in the wake of the car. The author’s name is in smaller yellow text at the top of the book, which is a double saga meaning you flip it over to read the other novel in the reverse direction - The Babysitter Lives.

Went to pick up my hold for Harlem Shuffle (fulfills “heist” spot in #52bookchallenge) and our librarian had put this new one from @sgj.bsky.social on display - who can resist books with matching colors? The Babysitter Lives is the book on the flip side of Killer on the Road. Cool format. #booksky
