Now watching. I’ve never seen the 3rd one. Tsui Hark directed this one instead of John Woo. #PhysicalMedia #ShoutFactory #ABetterTomorrowIII
Tonight’s viewing: #ABetterTomorrowIII (Hark, 1989) the final film of the classic Hong Kong trilogy is an exceptional blend of action and romance with languid cinematography at times set in 1974 and gives the backstory of Mark Lee brilliantly played by Chow Yun-Fat and his love (Anita Mui) #filmsky

Over the top acting that sometimes plagued the previous installments has been replaced in this prequel with even more over the top action. So even though the action was better in 2nd installment #ABetterTomorrowIII is still overall a better film. Not as good as 1st though. 📽️🎞️

Obviously had to complete the trilogy even though the final film in the series was no longer directed by John Woo (because of artistic differences with producer Tsui). And while the first two were clearly his movies #ABetterTomorrowIII is just as obviously a Tsui Hark film. 📽️🎞️
