My proposed title for my #AERA22 reflective essay:

Working or Werking? Navigating Queer Geographies at Academic Conferences

aera (iPosterSessions - an aMuze! Interactive system) Although women remain underrepresented in STEM careers, these gender gaps have narrowed in recent years. (Simon et al., 2016; Wang et al., 2013). On the other hand, men’s underrepresentation in female-dominated fields such as those related to language has remained stable (Croft et al., 2015). Social forces have been shown to play a key role in gender differences in career aspirations (Froehlich et al., 2020; Hyde, 2014; Olsson & Martiny, 2018). In particular, parents play a crucial role in students’ education and development (Šimunović & Babarović, 2020). Parents' socializing role may manifest in part through their attitudes and cultural values, such as those reflected by their gender stereotypical beliefs (Tomasetto et al., 2015). Though such beliefs have been found to shape elementary students’ interests (e.g., Muntoni & Retelsdorf, 2019), the role of parents might be particularly important when adolescents need to make decisions about their future and choose between multiple programs.
