Julia Roberts as Alma Imhoff looking rather groggy waking up
Julia sitting on a couch with one of the film's weakest points: Andrew Garfield who plays her good friend and colleague. He is clearly supposed to be a charming rule breaker, a man's man with swagger. But Garfield can fill none of that and her affection for him remains puzzling.
Ayo Edebiri plays Maggie, Alma's protégée and in this film the stand-in for the younger generation in many ways. She's a black girl from a wealthy family who have sponsored half the campus.
