5. Februar 1939 Fahrten in die Stadt, zum Arzt, zu Einkäufen, sind immer deprimierend, schwierig und sehr teuer. Wir aßen ein paarmal auf dem Bahnhof. Einmal drangen wir zu dem Markthallenrestaurant vor, das uns voriges Jahr so gut gefiel; als wir müde und hungrig hinkamen, hing ein neues Schild dort: »Juden unerwünscht«. Wir fuhren also wieder zum Bahnhof. English: February 5, 1939 Trips into town, to the doctor, to do shopping, are always depressing, difficult and very expensive. We ate at the station a couple of times. Once we went as far as the wholesale markets restaurant, which we liked so much last year; when we got there tired and hungry, there was a new sign: Jews not welcome. So we got the tram back to the station.
