Phone would not use a flash. I don’t know why.
This was much larger than rats I’ve seen before but had a tail like a rat. I propose this is a muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus).
The only real issue is: wtf was it doing in my front yard at 10pm?
Context: this is within 100 feet approximately of a large freshwater lake.

We saw a bear in Waterton! Never been so close to one and I've been in a lot of bear areas in Montana etc. Don't worry, we stayed in the car! Anybody able to say for sure if it is grizzly or not? We kind of think young grizz: not huge, but seemed to have the shoulder hump and tipped fur... #animalid
