My Great-Great UNCLE FRANK KIERNAN's grave in Pittsburgh. LEE surrendered to his unit, the 40th NY Infantry, at #APPOMATTOXCOURTHOUSE to end the #CIVILWAR . He was wounded in one of the last battles & hospitalized, do he missed the surrender.
