Anyone order sponges they seemed to have been lost in the bush 🧽 wellin fact these are the fruit of #Trachymene ornata a widespread species in the #Araliaceae, they look spongy thanks to the dense woolly hairs coving their mericarps and are by far the most showy part of the plant!
Plerandra actinostigma is a #floweringPlant in the family #Araliaceae. It was first described in 1968, as Schefflera actinostigma, and is endemic to #Vanuatu.
I pulled a stray #Hedera helix (🇬🇧 Ivy 🇩🇰 Vedbend) and this is what I found. Could it be the subterranean part of an #Orobanche hederae (🇬🇧 Ivy Broomrape 🇩🇰 Vedbend-Gyvelkvæler)?

Here’s how I learned firsthand about #heteroblasty: Pleranda elegantissima (syn. Dizygotheca e., Aralia e.; #Araliaceae). Juveniles are popular houseplants. 📷1: Cazé Hélène CCBYNCSA4. Adults look very different. 📷2: Mark Richman CCBY4. #Botany 🌱🧪🌾
