A close-up of a long, brown and grey peppered bristletail. It has a long, slender body; very long antennae curved back flush to the body; and long bristly tail protrusions. Its eyes are enormous.
I love bristletails, tough to identify though they may be. They are among the few groups of insects that branched off before insects developed wings.

Not a good photo by any means, but there still needs to be way more posts under the #archaeognatha and #bristletail tags hehehe >:)

Someday I'll get a clear photo or video of a #bristletail. Maybe. Probably not. But hey, a girl can dream, right?

If I was seeing them I'd post them, but so far I've only seen one in my life! Jumping bristletail, September 2023.

WAIT APPARENTLY IM THE FIRST AND ONLY PERSON TO USE #BRISTLETAIL *AND* #ARCHAEOGNATHA
Not even below-freezing temperatures are enough to stop a jumping bristletail from antenna wiggling away!
