Still on #BarryIsland #YnysYBarri but when we visited on Friday last week we called up to #TrinityStreet in #Barri #Barry where the main action in #GavinAndStacey was shot! A bloody steep Street! We’re beside the sea. To the middle distance over on the right there is a sheltered bay. To the left, leading away is a wide promenade, with prominent puddles. The subject of the photo is the large number of people, mostly dressed sensibly, some with high viz, some in Halloween kit, but all with a bike or scooter. The sky is cloudless blue, despite the fact that the rain was hammering down ten minutes previously

We’re on a wide tarmac promenade. A group of people on bikes is riding away from the camera. We seem to be part of the group. To the left, a grey pebble beach and a sliver of grey sea. To the right, we glimpse another body of water, lower than the promenade. That’s an ornamental lake. The sky is blue with low white fluffy clouds on the horizon, which is formed by a rise in the land. Building, houses in the far distance to the right, trees to the far distance left. The large white flag on one of the bikes reads “kidical mass Barry”

Wow, that was a great #KidicalMass in #Barry #Barrybados.

Organised by the amazing AB, we were a great gang of people on wheels. It wasn’t far, but the energy was great. We moved from #BarryIsland to the #Knap, with plenty of stops to re-group.

I was there […]

Looking down a country lane edged by tall green hedges. The sky is blue. The sun is in the upper left of the photo. In the middle distance, an arched stone railway viaduct crosses from left to right.

I take these photos so I can enjoy the progress of the sun across the sky as the seasons change. Here at the summer solstice, it’s high left, in December it’s low to the right.

This photo is dedicated to everybody who rides a bike for transport and especially to those who ride year round.

I’m particularly enjoying the warm weather at the moment which means that I don’t need gloves for warmth, and thinking back to the depths of winter when even withmy warm gloves with pogies, I’d still arrive at work frozen.

In the mornings this week, the dips in the landscape contained delicious, cool air, but in winter, they’re punishingly cold.

Whatever you ride, keep on keeping on.

The same view, but in the depths of December. This is the winter solstice 2024. The sky is dark, the sun not yet risen from the bottom right. A smudge of orange hints at the sunrise to come

Morning all. I’ve been quiet recently, but I’m still doing the #Biketooter thing most days.

We’re in a bar. It’s quiet. In front of us is a table. It’s light wood, and square. We’re close, sitting at the table. Immediately in front of us is a pint glass with a third of a pint of cloudy yellows beer. A round logo on the glass states “Craft Republic”
Flanking the glass, behind and to the side are two silver beer cans. Each has a label. In printed type is “Craft Republic” for that’s where we are. The left can’s label is handwritten “Full Circle

The other can reads

A picture looking into the dawn sky. The sky is grey blue at the zenith, peachy orange towards the ground. We’re in a wide valley. On either side of the frame a bare tree branches. The focus of the image is an arched stone railway viaduct which crosses the frame, with its flat top across the centre of the image. It has tall legs which taper slightly to the top. The legs are joined by semicircular arches. Two are clearly visible in the centre of the image, two more to the left are obscured by trees. Three to the right are also partly obscured. The rising sun is obscured by the central leg.

A view down a country lane, bounded by tall hedges. This a a picture of stark contrast. The foreground is dark, with a lighter ribbon of road leading away from us. The focus of the image is the sky which occupies the top half. The sky is dark grey/blue at its zenith, blending to peachy orange at the horizon. The sun is rising to the mid right of the image. Morning #Biketooter gang! The morning commute is getting lighter! The streetlights were turning off as I departed, and the backlight on my bike computer turned off at 07:42 - that was 07:53 last week. Here’s the view from my viewpoint in #Barrybados #Cymru, with an extra bonus pic.

We’re in a tunnel under a railway line. It’s about 30 metres long. On the left is a rough stone block wall. Leaning against that wall is a bicycle. We’re at the level of the top of the wheel, looking slightly up to the tunnel roof. We can see four parallel tracks for lights, leading away from us. The nearest is white, next is yellowyorange, then blue and white, then blue and white again. In the middle distance, these light tracks step upwards, indicating a change in height of the tunnel roof. The distant lights are more purple. It’s not very clear, but the tunnel arches up from left to right and is made of brick.
The bicycle has a red tail light, a small Welsh flag, and a yellow square field with a black camera enforcement icon.

Here you go, #BikeTooter gang. My commute this evening took me through the Island Road #tunnel in #Barrybados. It’s been pimped with lights on the arched roof - the lights change colour, and move along their tracks. Sometimes they’re 🌈, other times red, and […]

A view from a harbourside. The water is perfectly calm. The sky is blue with the orange of dawn on the horizon. A yellow bollard in the foreground. The main subject of the image is a cargo ship. It’s a bulk carrier with a red hull with a white band around the top of the hull. The bulbous keel is visible at the waterline. The name “LADY CARINA” in white on red on the bow. This is a view of the port quarter. On the quayside, machinery can be seen, particularly a machine with a yellow, jointed arm, loading cargo.
