The launch Meteor / (also known as the Comet II when operating in the #bayofislands ) was built by Collings and Bell and is reputed to be, at the time, the fastest commerical launch in New Zealand, with a top speed of 36 knots, carrying 12 passengers.

As of the completion of our ceremony (it's not just ours) in a couple hours? We will be citizens of Aotearoa. Just a couple months shy of ten years on from landing here with all of our belongings in a couple of (huge) duffle bags. Ok, an in storage States-side. Amazing symmetry? Today is also my 16-year anniversary of completing treatment for cancer, and being declare NED (No Evidence of Disease). But wait, there's more! Yesterday was the anniversary of Laura and her sister Sara arriving for the first time in the U.S. and adoptees. Here we are, down the hill from the DOC hut, after hiking the Cape Brett Track. You know what? Life is good. Yes. Yes, it is.
