A gannet in flight, black-tipped wings outstretched against a clear blue sky. The bird is lit such that the leading edges of the wings have a bright white highlight and the big white primary wing feathers seem translucent. The head is tinged an orangey-yellow, and the eyes are greeny-blue and outlined in black behind a long, sharp beak, and the feet are tucked away neatly to maximise aerodynamic performance. The sheer size of the bird, with its nearly two-metre wingspan, is not at all apparent.
Turns out that with a bit of luck, you can take a picture of a bird in flight from a very small bouncy boat, so long as the bird is really big, like this #gannet.
