Pink-footed Geese on the move over Barra today, picked up in the scope as a tiny black line wriggling on the horizon, miles out to sea. They kept coming, 5 minutes later passing over our house locked on a north-westerly bearing. Corncrake and Sedge Warbler were both new in today. #birdingscotland
The Corncrakes are back! It was the first bird I heard when I stepped out the door this morning and we heard several more around Barra during the day. Here's one from our back garden in 2020. #birdingscotland
Some 126 Black-tailed Godwits scattered around Tiree on the WeBS counts today, plus 3 Corncrakes (1st on 18th), 6 White Wagtails (1st on 18th), 4 Whimbrel (1st on 18th), a Cuckoo & 80 Pinkfeet north at Scarinish #BirdingScotland #PWC2026

A small weather feature hitting the northern isles, one of those that’s barely perceptible at ground level but higher up looks decent. Be interested to see what Shetland FI etc get this evening tomorrow morning! #birdingscotland

A mix of excitement and relief when I got onto the White-tailed Eagle that was going south over Girdle Ness today. I was able to watch it for five minutes as it drifted over Tullos Hill, pursued by gulls. Thanks to @fatpaulscholes.bsky.social for the tip off.

My 100th species on my Lochwinnoch patch 2026 year list was a drake mandarin had hoped for something better!
Sedge warblers added to year list this morning and cuckoo a bird I don’t alway get every year on Saturday. #birdingscotland #clydebirdibg

A Black-tailed Godwit is standing on a concrete breakwater in front of a large group of black and white Oystercatchers. A Herring Gull is scratching itself to the rear.
This Black-tailed Godwit, which was trying to blend in with the Oystercatchers on the south breakwater at Girdle Ness this morning, is my first ever spring record of the species here.
