The bird has a dark crown with a light central stripe, a light eyebrow, and a dark line behind the eye. The underbelly is a light yellow.

I found a flock of 37 Bobolinks on the fields at Uihlein Farm this morning. They were probably part of the larger flock of Bobolinks that breed on Heaven Hill Farm, across Bear Cub Road. Bobolink, Essex County, NY (28 July 2025). www.uihleinfoundation.org/uihlein-farm

Strong finish to this morning’s #MerlinApp backyard #birds sample: #Bobolinks are back, baby! Heard them as soon as I stepped out, but opened the app to make sure. First catbird of the year, also. Spring migration running its course.

Bobolinks are a threatened species list due to that they nest in grass & hay fields which leaves them vulnerable if the fields are harvested before the end of nesting season, generally around June 15.
