Traffic issues caused by the Melling Link means being #BusDriverEd is even more stressful. Bad driving proliferates under these circumstances & I'm swearing underneath my breath more often. But every so often a little kid greets me with a beaming "Hi Mr Bus Driver!" & I hate the world a little less

Something bizarre happened on the bus this week. Doing a school run & midway through the trip I heard a group of girls singing Barbie Girl! Later the strains of YMCA came from the back of the bus, quickly followed by the comment, "I love Crazy Frog!"

There's a bus stop at the top of Gemstone Drive in Birchville & every so often someone leaves a paper bag in the bus shelter with 5-6 empty wine bottles in it & I'd really like to know the story behind this behaviour #intrigued #BusDriverEd

I don't wish to be proscriptive, but if you drive a vehicle in Aotearoa then there's a 50% chance you are not very good at it. The odds increase if you drive any of the following:
-Audi, Merc, BMW or Range Rover
-Suzuki Ignis
-any oversize ute, ESPECIALLY American imports
-tradie's van

The only thing that could make the day better is if I didn't have to go to work. What's worse is that I'm meant to be rostered off but offered to cover a shift for somebody who's away on leave #BusDriverEd

My day started at 4am, in order to be at work at 5am. Got home at 5pm, fed & walked dogs, prep lunch for work tomorrow, & make dinner. Bedtime in ½ an hour in order to get up at 4am again to walk the dogs before work at 7:30am, which will end at 7pm. Rinse & repeat for Sunday 😩 #BusDriverEd

In 2½ years of being #BusDriverEd, I could probably count on one hand the number of drivers who have actually slowed down to the legally required 20 km/hr when passing a stopped school bus. And at least one of those was a fellow bus driver
