The Rideau Canal locks lead down to the Ottawa River, in the distance, whilst the Chateau Laurier hotel hugs the right side of the photo. The Bytown Museum is housed to the left of the locks, and further to the left rises Parliament Hill, where parts of the East Block and Library building peek over trees. In the background, the setting sun burns its way through light cloud cover. The photo was captured at least 14 years ago, in the early days of HDR photo editing, which exaggerates the colour saturation.
