Looking up a tree trunk with a wide strip missing from a lightning strike. The bark is rough with vertical ridges. The strip is a light salmon colour in the center with pale yellow on the outer edges. The lower branches have few needles. Higher up there is a thick mass of light and dark needles against an almost white sky.
#Conifer #ThickTrunkThursday This fir tree was struck by lightning in 2022. The current blasted a 25 Ft long 2 inch thick slab with bark attached, off of the tree. The tree yet survives.
