Caddis, still, on the ‘Stone! I wouldn’t hesitate to tie on a size 16 tan caddis dry behind your Chubby (or small hopper). Just a suggestion…

I thought I'd have a go at IDing #caddis as moths aren't challenging enough : / I think the first three species are Limnephilus marmoratus, L. auricula and Stenophylax permistus (gen. det.), but am happy to be corrected. Maybe also L. auricula for the last? #teammoth #Trichoptera

Was up early yesterday to help empty traps at a local site. Not many moths, but the ones that were there were cracking! Also got three #caddis species: Rhyacophila dorsalis, Glyphotaelius pellucidus, and Oxyethira flavicornis, and a #SextonBeetle Nicrophorus humator

I don't often get excited about caddis-flies, but this Mottled Sedge male (Glyphotaelius pellucidus) is a bit of a stunner. To light, W Dorset, UK 30/4. #caddis #Trichoptera

The Mother’s Day Caddis When caddisflies land on the water to lay eggs, more often than not, they face upstream and into the current.

This week’s Flylab newsletter is headed to an inbox near you.

Deeter writes about the Mother’s Day Caddis hatch: “When it comes to finding the pattern trout are going to want to eat, profile is the number one factor, followed closely by size and then maybe color, in that order…”
