The forewings have a small dark eye-spot towards the tips, they are rusty orange with a lighter wavy band along the trailing edge, and a darker brown area closer to the body with a white chevron-like patch.  The hind wings are similar with a white patch in the median area  and wavy bands of lighter and darker colors throughout.

This is the Tulip Tree Silk #Moth, #Callosamia anguilifera. I rescued this one from a busy parking area last night. He's a bit battered, but hopefully he finds/has found a mate.

The moth's eyes are a blueish black and from above them extend two large feathery yellow antennae.  The moth's wings are held at an angle, the leading edges are dark brown and on the moth's left wing leading edge a small pale cream colored leaf hopper is hitching a ride.

Having a bit of a sad day here today, so sharing something that makes me happy for today's #invertefest post. This happy moth friend is the Tuliptree #Silkmoth, #Callosamia angulifera, a magnificent moth in family #Saturnidae who came to visit this Summer.

Good morning Blue Sky. Last night was a very exciting night at the light station, as the Tulip-tree #Silkmoth, #Callosamia angulifera, came to visit! This is a first time sighting for me! ๐Ÿ˜ป
