A lone Cape Buffalo gives a weary look at our van. Older bulls generally leave the herd, unable to keep up with agression from the younger males. An oxpecker can be seen on the bull's left year leg, foraging for ticks and other insects.
A Cape Buffalo bull takes a drink from the Okavongo Delta in Botswana. He's standing on a grassy islet. I was in a flatbed boat.
A weary Cape Buffalo bull gives us the stink eye. A red-billed oxpecker can be seen in the upper right corner, searching for ticks. This is the same bull from the first photo. Masai Mara reserve in Kenya.
A large herd of Cape Buffalo lets the humans know exactly that they think of us. As a Brit might say, "I can't be arsed with this." (see what I did there?) On safaris, one quickly learns that wild animals are not nearly as interested in us as we are in them. In areas where tourists in jeeps and vans are common, many animals grow completely indifferent to humans.
