The world feels like it's going to shit but somewhere between walking back from our local bike shop and trying a new pastry at a cafe I realized my life finally feels right. Also, I no longer live in the US. That's probably most of it.

I’m staying in a #hilly part of DC this stretch. A week ago I was panting like a pup on a hot day, but after a week of around 15,000 steps a day I’m breathing normally and not breaking a sweat.
I cannot underemphasize how much living #carfree is better for your health

- putting at least 25 km a week on my bike

Hauled a lot by e-bike from estate sale yesterday: chairs, tables, household goods. Returned today looking for a can opener, nails, etc..
Staff were impressed by my #MoveByBike. Told them I was new ED of the local bike/ped/transit advocacy group & they seemed psyched that I walk my #carfree talk.

Have been using one for 15 years in Halifax, host one on our driveway after going #CarFree in 2022. For us, living in a @communauto.bsky.social rich neighbourhood, ditching our car was a no brainer once we did the maths. Parked >92% of time, our car was a pricy, inefficient security blanket.
