Birds in flight, with distant trees and fields out of focus in the background. The birds are flying from left to right. We can see four birds in all, plus to wing of one more at the bottom of the image. Just above that wing is a Black-headed Gull, with a chocolate-brown coloured head, white body and tail, and greyish wings. Above the Gull are three Sandwich Terns. Their colouration is similar but they have black crowns, and longer, slimmer beaks which are black with yellow tips. Their bodies and wings are slimmer too, and their tails are forked, a feature which gives Terns the alternative name of 'Sea Swallows'.

#PlumeScrolling meets #TernTuesday! What an experience my brother @robcamera.bsky.social and I had at #Cemlyn, #Anglesey, back in June. 2,000 pairs of Sandwich #Terns (plus Common and Arctic Terns, and Black-headed #Gulls) nest here. The activity, and the noise, was constant! #Birds 🦉 #UKWildlife 🌿
