The #ShanghaiMassacre began on #ThisDayInHistory in 1927, ending the #FirstUnitedFront in which #Kuomintang (KMT) and Communist Party (CCP) worked together to defeat warlordism. #ChiangKaiShek's KMT killed up to 10,000 communists at the start & another 300,000 over the next year.

He was especially critical of how #ChiangKaiShek, whose Nationalist army lost against Mao Tse-tung's Communist forces, demanded aid while bribing American congressmen for their support, and drew a 1951 panel depicting a "Chiang Gang" swollen and rich on financial aid rendered by the United States.

#ChiangWeikuo (#Chinese: 蔣緯國; 6 October 1916 – 22 September 1997), also known as Wego Chiang, was the adopted son of #RepublicOfChina #President #ChiangKaishek, the adoptive brother of President #ChiangChingkuo, a retired #Army #general, and an important figure in the #Kuomintang.
Today marks the 50th year since #ChiangKaiShek died. According to 2021 statistics from the #Taiwan #TransitionalJustice Database, a total of 13,268 people were unfairly prosecuted under his declaration of martial law. He was also the number one "judge," having made the executive call on 4,101 cases.
