This photograph shows a tall, elegant steeple of St.Mary’s church reaching sharply into the sky taken the week before last in a town called Carlow in Ireland close to where live. The tower is built in Gothic style, with narrow arched windows and pointed details along its upper edges. The spire rises high above, tapering to a fine point topped with a cross. The image is in dramatic black and white the church glows pale against a dark, moody sky filled with thick, rolling clouds. Light and shadow play across the stone, giving the scene a haunting and timeless feel, as if the church stands watch between heaven and storm. And finally our picture is finished with a white border frame with a small poem l wrote for this capture which l have included below: “The Watcher in the Sky” A needle of stone through tempest’s sigh, Its prayer unspoken pierces the sky. Where shadows gather and angels weep, The tower keeps the heavens’ sleep.
