Just sayin’ that along with being a classic Do Not Huff mineral, #Chrysotile has a curved crystal structure that makes it curl up into little straws.
(I just learned that from one of the #MinCup25 volunteer team. So cool!)

I was going to post that #chrysotile was used as filter in Kent cigarettes (!) in the 50s. However, that turns out - thanks, wiki! - to be blue asbestos (fibrous riebeckite, Na₂(Fe²⁺₃Fe³⁺₂)Si₈O₂₂(OH)₂), in contrast to white asbestos (chrysotile, ~ Mg₃(Si₂O₅)(OH)₄). Very educational, this #MinCup25!

Especially in the post-WWII world where a lot of this legislation was written, the threat of fire was a far more urgent safety concern. It was known #Chrysotile could make you ill, but considered manageable with precautions. People didn't have access to better information. #MinCup25
You're far from alone! In the UK it used to be a legal requirement for buildings like schools and hospitals to have #Chrysotile (as well as grunerite or crocidolite) containing materials in their build, to give vulnerable building inhabitants extra time to escape in case of a fire. #MinCup25
Okay #pectolite is pretty enough, but but #chrysotile somehow satisfied me more, in its place. I don't want a nice fluffy sample on my bedside table, and I don't want the fire retardant material in my walls. But I'm glad that it's on Earth. It can't make jewelry, not safely. But it looks nice to me

For some reason I thought this is about #Chrysolite and was about to vote for it because there's lots of lovely olivine here. Then I noticed my mistake and jumped ship and joined Team #Pectolite, just because #Chrysotile tried to trick me.
I voted for #Pectolite because (a) it (some varieties) is sky blue and (b) normal toxic minerals should be lick-it-and-die kind and not bring-your-jacket-from-work-and-everybody-around-will-die-it-terrible-way kind as for nasty #Chrysotile.

When the lung tries to break asbestos fibres down to carry it out of the lung, they just get smaller instead - and sharper! This causes repeated injury to the lung tissue... and the more times the body has to heal something, the more chance of a cell becoming cancerous. #Chrysotile #MinCup25
All asbestos are fibrous habit minerals; crucially, the fibres split fractally - to the molecular level. They never become "chunks", it's all fibres all the way down. This is what makes asbestos (all six) carcinogenic, compared to a control lung irritant like silica dust. #Chrysotile #MinCup25

This was a tough call, but I think I'm team #Chrysotile. Which is pretty wild considering I'd never heard of until this morning. It was the Challenger fact and somebody's eldritch horror post that tipped the balance for me, honestly.
I was going to vote pectolite because it was pretty, and chrysotile was just asbestos, but then I read some more and discovered it was a serpentine, and I love serpentinite, so go go, team #chrysotile!

Quite a bit of #Chrysotile was extracted from the Jeffrey Mine, Quebec. It is located on a line of oceanic lithosphere attached to North America during the growth of the Appalachians.
