A mass of pale, whitish green, branchy, tube-like, antler-like Imshaug’s tube lichen lies on the mulchy, weedy ground at the head of a coast range hiking trail. It’s also got these darker, brownish cup-like disc parts dotting the main mass. Super interesting! If my iNaturalist selection is right, this lichen species prefers conifer forests, which makes sense because that’s exactly where I was.
A closer picture of the mass of pale, whitish green, branchy, tube-like, antler-like Imshaug’s tube lichen lying on the mulchy, weedy ground at the head of a coast range hiking trail. It’s also got these darker, brownish cup-like disc parts dotting the main mass. In this close-up, the antler-like tubes also have tiny black dots. The brownish little cups are glossy in the inside too! If my iNaturalist selection is right, this lichen species prefers conifer forests, which makes sense because that’s exactly where I was.
Found this gorgeous specimen of what iNaturalist says is “Hypogymnia imshaugii”. So, maybe it’s that. It’s really cool, whatever it is. #Lichen #LichenSubscribe #FungiFriends #FungiFriday #iNaturalist #Nature #Photography #Hiking #PNW #CoastRange #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #DontGiveUp #YouMatter
