Glorious colors in the pre-dawn sky above Portland, Oregon. Shot from the Pittock Mansion west of downtown. Vertical color photograph: The trees of the klower reach of the Tullatin Mountains are visible in the foreground at the bottom of the image. Next, the skyscrapers of downtown Portland, Oregon, rear up. The lights of cars ferrying people to their jobs are visible. Beyond, the folded mountains of the western Cascades march into the mist covered distance until Mount Hood's cone pierces the sky. And behind and above that distinctive mountain, an orange band along the horizon fades from red-orange to yellow-orange. Above that, the thin clouds glow red and slowly, slowly fade to purple at the very top of the image.

Clear Lake Sunset – July 25, 2025 Captured at Wasagaming Campground in Riding Mountain National Park, this evening’s show was nothing short of spectacular. Facing north, the sun’s colours poured through the clouds, creating a vibrant display of warm and cool tones across the sky. This is a 15-second long exposure at ISO 100, 31mm, f/11, taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and 24–105mm lens. I used an ND filter and polarizer to control light and deepen tones, with rocks in the foreground and a dock stretching into the calm waters.
